This is not what I meant to show you and there are so much more, but the internet keep shouting me down so I had to give up right now because I have to go to watch the how do you call it, the march? now, its the nation's independent day, should be so fascinating for me to experiences it, and this time I promise I will post much more when I return, and for now just hope that you can give me the stories as I am showing you what I see and walk and dance into.....
life is so beautiful today, its your independence day, I walked in by my blindness with your open heart, women are all dressed in bright colored traditional dress, so beautiful, pink red blue so bright as if it is a bright loud laughter passing by you and spell on you a permanent mark of happiness shinny in the heated sunlight.......
But suddenly rain falling as I was walking along the south China sea so peaceful, yes sweet rain falling on earth to our land like a surprise in front of me right now, tender fresh so romantic with its music of new years bless, wash the dust away forever.....

After the King's happy celebration of the nation, cars Crowd vanished, quietness returned to the city as if suddenly you can hear your own voice again emerging a perfect painting slowly on the pavement, a perfect lucky day, a beautiful gift for the country and for us.......

At first I thought you were talking about something a FLY like me would love and go for... then I realized you were mentioning that fruit.
Yes, I tasted it when I was in Indonesia.
The taste is not bad at all, rather delicate taste.
The problem is that you have to avoid inhaling/breathing when eating it to avoid its smell.
That is rather frustrating because smell enhances taste.
And as you say on Twitter, of course there is no alcohol beverags served in Brunei it being an Islamic country.
The same in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
When over there I saw some British make their own home made beer with a special kit, and they were fermenting the so-called beer in a large plastic trash can.
The sight of that was enough to gross out even a tough little FLY like me....(!)

On Twitter you ask us if we know what a "Baju Kurun" is.
I had to Google up that to find its meaning.
Then I recognized the traditional women's garment of Malaysia.
( and of Brunei too I guess )
When I had visited Malaysia I saw women all over that country wearing that kind of dress, but I never got around in remembering its name.
Silly me.... can you imagine someone who has never seen blue jeans before, going to the USA or to Europe and seeing people wearing blue jeans but not remembering how they are called ?
Going back home and saying:

Just a few essential and basic points you should know about
Islam since you are in Brunei, a Muslim nation.
1) they pray 5 times per day facing towards the Mecca located in Saudi Arabia
2) All pictures and paintings do not represent human figures because it is blasfemy to depict Muhammad the Prophet - unlike the Christians who always show images of Christ, Mary, Joseph ad all the Saints- this to avoid idolatry of man made images.
3) They do not drink alcohol, eat pork meat and shellfish. This was established for health reasons by the Prophet to avoid intoxication.
4) They do not like dogs, because dogs are viewed as the simbol of the devil.
( in Arab the word "khelm" meaning dog, is the worst insult you could call a Muslim )
5) Gambling is forbidden. Even a set of cards will be torn to pieces because all forms of gambling are considered tools of the devil to grab hold of you and of your soul.
6) Each Muslim must try to go to the Mecca in pilgrimage at least once in his/her lifetime.
7) women must keep most of their bodies covered as a sign of humility and self respect, and men must avoid women while respecting their world.
8) Charity and sharing is a duty that all true Muslims must abide to.
These are just a few points I can think of, off the top of my head.
Of course there is a lot, lot more to it than just that.
I just wanted to mention a few aspects which can come in handy to remember...

actually, they did not have horses until real late in the day and one horse real early in the morning.

3) Bai Ling discovering that the city of Chengdu has changed a lot becoming more modern, has lost most of its bicycles opting for cars instead....I'm not quite sure that is a good sign of progress.
4) Bai Ling eating all sorts of foods her mother prepared for her, foods she probably forgot about.
