Been watching the temperatures in Europe [London and Paris - courtesy of my new/(old really) Apple computers Dashboard utility]) - so far it's been warmer here in Alaska than where you are. Sorry! We had a summer like that last year, cold and wet and dark. This year it's Valhalla - even got a sunburn Seward (where it rains most of the time) a couple of weeks back.
Still I come here and feel the warmth instead......on account that obsessive saddos ramblings usually provide some nice warm Bullshit.

Fair enough, I'll start. Initially I found this blog after seeing a picture of Bai Ling and doing a Google search; I thought her blog was stupid and left. Then, for some reason, unknown to me I stopped "in" while chatting on a rather mainstream U.S. Politcal blog (Democrats). Started reading the comments and had a back and forth with either you or Ace over some political thing (you no doubt were to my right :) Bai was in NYC while I was there - she went to NYU, I was at Columbia (in Film School for awhile). No doubt we walked past each other at the Film Forum, a club, a lecture or and opening somewhere. Bai got "lucky" early on in here career in The States - as did I. I thought about going to Hollywood - but didn't because I was doing Docs and shooting stills. I think Bai is very brave, very lucky and perhaps still naive - not sure. Of course my rambling answers nothing other than I am here because of you, Ace, Wheeler, Fly, and Bai.
Ahhh, yes the beach. Always a great place to hang out and relax. Why are we here on this blog? Bai Ling shares her thoughts, as blogs do that. We share our thoughts, as blogs do that.
Interesting reading back through the comments and logging them into a database. Gyna, Cathy D., Zeitgeist, Arty Bartfarst - all a real slimy bunch with nothing but vitriol for Bai Ling and folks posting comments here. None of them have profiles, how odd :)

What's wrong with hedonism? Worked for the Greeks, the Romans and to a lesser degree the French and the Italians. The early white settlers here in the US accused the natives of being immoral and that certainly seems to be the byline of most 2-bit dictators around the world for the past 200 years or so. There is merit in those kind of actions and at the right times they can have a great deal of impact (just look at the doctors that made a stinko about health care reform - their actions changed the way the legislation was written). Tamar suspension bridge was my last time "protesting", had two police boats,two Police negotiators a Police helicopter and God knows how many cars and oh and the 6 o'clock news. Most of my negatives and prints are 2800 miles from where I am now Ian. In all honesty it's not important to me to show them to you or anybody else right now. My work did, sometimes, help. After the fact, unless your a researcher it's mostly pictures of cops beating people, taking pictures or video taping people.
